Hotel Transition FAQs

When can we begin making room reservations at the Hotel Skyler?

If you are looking to book 10 or more rooms, please complete the room request form [PDF] and submit it via email to roomblockrequest@syr.edu. If rooms are not available at the Skyler, Auxiliary Services staff will refer you to other nearby hotel options.

Who can assist me in booking one room for a campus visitor?

Auxiliary Services will support bookings for 10 or more rooms. Individuals booking rooms for a campus visitor or a small number of rooms can contact the hotel of their choice directly to make reservations.

Where can I find a list of nearby hotels?

The list can be found by visiting this page of nearby hotels.

Does Syracuse University receive discounted rates at nearby hotels?

Yes, the University was able to secure a discounted rate for those booking a block of hotel rooms at certain nearby hotels. To inquire about a block room rate, please email roomblockrequest@syr.edu.  Rates vary depending on the day of the week and major event weekends.

The University will continue to negotiate with nearby hotels for discounted room rates and anticipates having those rates in place by Fall 2024.

Who should I contact if I have questions about hotel accommodations?

You may contact roomblockrequest@syr.edu.

Will the University provide transportation to and from the Hotel Skyler and other preferred partner hotels?

The University can provide transportation to and/or from the Skyler or other preferred hotels for University-sponsored groups of 10 or more guests.

Parking and Transportation Services offers three options for groups of 10-36 people: a van, a small trolley, and a large trolley. The transportation department requests two weeks notice for transportation requests. If they are unable to accommodate your request, they will provide a list of recommended vendors. More information is available on the Parking and Transportation Services website. Questions can be directed to Parking and Transportation Services at parkmail@syr.edu.

How do I arrange parking for guests for whom I am booking hotel reservations?

Parking and Transportation Services can provide parking for on-campus guests in the Comstock Avenue Garage, College Place lot, University Avenue Garage, or the Irving Garage, provided the request is provided 24 hours in advance. More information is available on the Parking and Transportation Services website. Questions can be directed to Parking and Transportation Services at parkmail@syr.edu.

I have previously hosted events at meeting spaces within the Sheraton. What options do I have now that the Sheraton is being converted to a residence hall?

The University community can reserve a wide array of spaces on campus using the 25Live reservation platform. Please note, requests do not guarantee a room. Email confirmations will be sent to the requestor. In addition, Syracuse University’s Drumlins Country Club offers on-site meeting rooms, catering, and event planning assistance. For inquiries and bookings at Drumlins, contact Laura Massa-Rispoli, LMassa@Drumlins.com or 315.446.8511 ext. 323.

If I am hosting an event on campus that I previously held at the Sheraton, what are my catering options?

Per the University’s catering policy, Syracuse University Campus Catering is the only authorized catering service for Syracuse University, providing food and beverages in compliance with New York State law, the Onondaga County Health Department, and the Syracuse University Policy on Alcohol, Other Drugs, and Tobacco.

If you wish to serve alcohol at your event, 30 days advance notice must be given. Syracuse University Catering Services has primary responsibility for selling and serving alcohol at events. The New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA) requires a caterer’s (temporary alcohol) permit for all non-licensed facilities for every event on campus where alcohol is being served. Without this permit, alcohol cannot be served. The licensed facilities on campus are the Schine Student Center, the Inn Complete, and the JMA Dome.
